About the Position The CPB Contractors Dragados Samsung (CPBDS-JV) joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.9bn WestConnex New M5. The New M5 is the second stage of WestConnex and will run in twin tunnels between the existing M5 East at Kingsgrove and new interchange at St Peters, providing improved access to the airport, South Sydney and Port Botany precincts. The Electrical (M&E) Fit Out scope includes 4 surface Motorway Operations Centres (MOC s), Ventilation Stations, & Prefabricated electrical equipment rooms (EER s) installed in the tunnel cross passages Installation of Mechanical Jet and Axial Fans, Five substations, Water Treatment Plants, Fire Pump facilities & fire water tanks, Radio Broadcast and Tunnel Communications Systems, Tunnel Electronic Information Systems and Signage, HV, LV Electrical Installation Fire Deluge System Installation About the role The CDS-JV project is seeking applications for a hands on electrical Supervisors to support the operations team for M&E Fit Out of the New M5 Tunnel. This role involves managing all elements of the tunnel nightshift works and deliveries. Reporting to the M&E Superintendent, the role will be responsible for managing day to day operations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. The Supervisors directly manage all works on site and sub-contractors. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organisational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication skills and influencing a positive safety culture during the M&E phase Act in a support role and be part of the M&E Tunnel Team to ensure successful completion of the fit out stage Work with Subcontractor safety and operational staff to issue best practice methods are observed during the installation and commissioning Complete toolbox, safety moments and other training campaigns Build and maintain relationships with workplace stakeholders through effective stakeholder management strategies, ongoing engagement, collaboration and consultation. This stage of the work will be well planned to ensure rapid delivery, and as such will be fast paced and challenging. The New M5 is entering a peak phase of construction activity that will offer a rewarding experience and opportunities for broader skills development. General Responsibility The Supervisor is responsible for managing all elements of work on site in order to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project contract. Responsible for providing necessary information about contractors and work progress to ensure that programs and safety goals are met Provides the technical expertise necessary to address and rectify issues/problems arising from contractors or unexpected jobsite conditions Assist with providing technical assistance (interpretation of drawings, recommendation of construction methods and equipment, etc.) as required, including electrical, plumbing and fire protection Inspection of Contractor or (Sub) Contract operations to ensure compliance with contract Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients. Monitor costs, including labour time and material Communicate and enforce Safety and Health Management Program Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others Prepare and submit Supervisor s Daily Reports to document weather and field conditions, trade and subcontractor manpower, progress and conditions impacting the project, as well as Accident Reports, Quality Reports, etc. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, tools and terminology of the electrical trade thorough knowledge of electrical theory thorough knowledge of the safety hazards of the work and of the necessary safety precautions ability to make decisions and advise of electrical wiring, fixtures and equipment ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates skill in the use of electrical maintenance and repair equipment ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
